About the Workshops

Who are Big Day Workshops for?

BDW is for photographers, videographers, and content creators at any level. Whether you're building your first portfolio or refining a well-established brand, you’ll find creative freedom, structure, and access to luxury content.

 

What kind of content will I get?

Workshops include editorial flat lays, ceremony styling, real couples in fashion-led looks, portrait sessions, and styled scenes across unique venues. Each setup is built for modern, high-end storytelling.

 

How are the days structured?

Each day is scheduled for flow. Some moments are lightly directed, others give you full creative space. Schedules are shared in advance and carefully balanced to maximise your time on set.

 

Is there teaching or formal direction?

No teaching blocks. Our role is to curate the environment so you can shoot strong, portfolio-ready content. You will receive guidance where needed and support throughout the day.

 

How many people attend?

We cap attendance at a small group, with even smaller sets throughout the day. This ensures everyone has time and access to the scenes, models, and details without overcrowding.

Booking and Payments

 

How do I book?

Start by filling in our enquiry form. If there’s space, we’ll send you a personal email with access to your invoice, contract, and client portal. Your place is only confirmed once both the contract is signed and the deposit is received.

 

Can I pay in instalments?

Yes. Your invoice outlines a three-part payment schedule. We accept bank transfers and most major debit and credit cards.

 

Is the deposit refundable?

Deposits are fully refundable for 14 days. After that, all payments made are non-refundable.

 

What happens if I need to cancel?

After 14 days, any payments made will be retained. No further payments will be due, but your place is no longer held. We recommend travel insurance that covers cancellation.

 

Can I transfer my place to someone else?

Yes, with approval. You must email us and copy in the person taking your place. They will need to agree to the same terms. No resale above the original price is allowed.

Travel and Accommodation

 

Are flights or hotels included?

No. Travel and accommodation are not included unless stated in the brochure.

 

Is transport provided?

If group transport is included, this will be clearly stated in your booking info. You are always welcome to make your own way to each location.

 

Is there a recommended hotel?

Yes. We often suggest a hotel near the pickup or shoot location. You are free to stay elsewhere if preferred.

 

Do I need insurance or travel documents?

Yes. If you are attending a workshop abroad, it is your responsibility to arrange visas, passports, and any entry documents. We also require public liability and equipment insurance for all attendees.

 

During the Workshop

 

What are the hours?

Workshops typically run from morning through late afternoon or early evening. Final timings are sent in your briefing pack before the event.

 

What happens if the weather is bad?

We adapt where we can, but weather is beyond our control. Scenes may shift, change, or be removed if conditions are unsafe. We cannot offer refunds for weather disruption.

 

Is food included?

Unless stated, meals are not included. You are responsible for your own food and drink. Light refreshments may be available. If transport is included, we often schedule a stop for supplies.

 

What should I bring?

Your camera gear, charged batteries, memory cards, appropriate clothing and footwear, sun protection, water, and anything you need for comfort throughout the day. Drones are welcome unless restricted.

 

Can I leave early?

We ask all clients to commit to the full day. Missing sessions may mean missing key scenes and content.

 

Content Use and Sharing

 

Can I use the content I capture?

Yes. Everything you shoot is yours to use across your business, social media, submissions, or marketing.

 

Do I need to tag BDW?

Please tag @bigdayworkshops when sharing. We love seeing your work and often reshare across our platforms.

 

Can I submit work to magazines or awards?

Yes. Please ensure suppliers are credited where relevant and always check the publication’s submission policy.

 

Do I need to credit the suppliers?

We encourage respectful crediting when you feature recognisable florals, gowns, stationery, or other design elements.

 

Conduct and Safety

 

What conduct is expected?

We expect all clients to behave respectfully at all times. That includes other attendees, team members, models, suppliers, and members of the public. Harassment, inappropriate behaviour, or unsafe conduct will result in immediate removal without refund.

 

What if I have accessibility needs?

Let us know in advance. We aim to support wherever we can, though some venues may have physical limitations.

 

Is insurance required?

Yes. You must have your own travel, equipment, and liability cover. You are also responsible for any damage caused to others or to property during the workshop.
